The Chicago Colombian Music Festival is the largest and longest celebration of Colombian music and culture outside of Colombia. The inaugural edition of this festival took place during the entire month of July 2010, the month and year of Colombia's Bicentennial. It was founded with the intention of sharing Colombia's incredibly rich musical heritage with the world via the global city that is Chicago.
The first edition of this showcase consisted of over 30 Colombian music events at 9 different venues around the city, including: Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, Old Town School of Folk Music, The Evanston Arts Festival, Summerdance, Excalibur Nightclub, Green Dolphin Street, and both locations of Las Tablas Colombian Steakhouse.
This momentous event featured four groups directly from Colombia, as well as top talent from across the U.S. and Chicago.
